3 Reasons to Choose CapU for Early Childhood Education

We asked our student ambassador, Sukhmani, a third-year student in the Bachelor of Early Childhood Care & Education degree program at Capilano University, for her top three reasons why she thinks students choose CapU to study Early Childhood Care and Education.

Here's what she had to say:

1. Hands-on experience

This program allows you to gain hands-on experience working with children through the multiple practicums embedded in the program.

These practicum experiences may occur at our on-campus Capilano University Children's Centre or another childcare centre in the lower mainland.

2. Many career opportunities

A bachelor's degree in early childhood education opens doors to many career opportunities.

Firstly, early childhood educators are in major demand, with many government initiatives supporting higher funding, especially when paired with the post-basic certificates embedded into the degree, including infant, toddler, and special needs.

The CapU ECCE degree can also lead students toward becoming a child development consultant, child advocate, education consultant, early years program facilitator, and StrongStart BC Facilitator, to name a few.

This degree can also serve as a pathway to elementary teacher education programs at Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia.

3. Offered on multiple campuses

Our ECCE programs are offered on our North Vancouver main campus where the university is in the process of building a new purpose-built Centre for Childhood Studies.

This brand-new building is set to be completed by the end of 2024. The bachelor's degree program will also be offered at our Squamish Campus starting in September 2024.

CapU also offers the ECCE bachelor's degree online if you have completed your basic early childhood education licence to practice and live outside the Lower Mainland.
